Fruits: Apples, blackberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, cucumbers, grapes, peaches, tomatoes, watermelon.

Vegetables: Beans (Lima), bean snaps, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, cilantro, collards, sweet corn, dill, eggplant, endive and escarole, kale, leafy lettuce, leeks, mustard greens, okra, onions, parsley, parsnips, bell peppers, hot peppers, sweet peppers, potatoes, pumpkins, spinach, zucchini, winter squash, turnip greens, turnips.

Tip: There’s a trick to determining if a watermelon is ripe. Scratch the surface with your thumbnail. If the outer layer slips back easily and is white and green inside, the melon is ripe. If it’s not ripe the scratch will simply leave a darker depression line.
